Hormone Balance

Updated: Apr 26

Understanding how women’s hormones work is something I have dedicated years of study, and applied to thousands of patients. You may not know is that all of your hormonal systems are interconnected: your ovarian hormones, thyroid hormones, adrenal (stress) hormones, pancreatic hormones and others from your brain. When one system goes out of balance you will see the effect in all other systems. For example during prolonged periods of high stress, not only the adrenal hormones change. Also during stress, the following occur: lower progesterone from the ovaries which affects your menstrual cycle and fertility, changes in blood sugar metabolism due to the impact on insulin response affecting weight, poor thyroid hormone utilization affecting energy levels, and lower melatonin levels affecting sleep quality.

Specific hormonal issues that can be treated with naturopathic medicine, include:

  1. Hormone imbalance

  2. PMS – premenstrual syndrome

  3. Perimenopause

  4. Endometriosis

  5. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

  6. Irregular periods

  7. Cervical dysplasia

  8. Menstrual cramps

  9. Breast cancer recovery

  10. Menopause

  11. and more!

Treatment for hormone balance, begins by understanding specifically where the imbalance is (usually through lab testing), and then treating it using a powerful combination of nutrition, stress reduction, nutritional and herbal supplements, and in some cases bioidentical hormones.
