Alyssa received her Masters in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Prior to completing her Masters, she graduated with Honours from Queen’s, majoring in Kinesiology. As an athlete, Alyssa has always had a passion for health and physical well-being, and knew that a career helping others was one for her. Working as an orthopaedic physiotherapist, Alyssa treated many prenatal and postpartum woman and soon developed an interest in pelvic floor rehabilitation. She has taken specialized training through Pelvic Health Solutions and continues to take courses in women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Alyssa uses various treatment modalities, including manual therapy, taping techniques, active exercise and home exercise programs to help patients throughout the course of their pregnancy, prepare for labour, and during the postpartum period. Alyssa has experience treating patients with low back pain, sciatica, hip pain, round ligament discomfort, pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and diastasis recti.
Alyssa is an evidence-based practitioner and is continuously reviewing newly published research to guide her treatment techniques. Throughout her career, Alyssa has taken her McKenzie Course in Lower Back Pain and has achieved her Level 1 Advanced Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Certificate. Outside of work, Alyssa is a rugby, volleyball, and ultimate Frisbee player. She also enjoys travelling and exploring the outdoors. You can be sure to find her hiking, camping, and fishing outside of the city on most weekends!
